Aerial
Somehow, someway I'm lucky enough to be friends with the president of the Utah Backcountry Pilot's Association. Occasionally he invites me to come along with him and one of his buddies to take photos as we fly over various landscapes of Utah. I'm always looking forward to the next flight with them. These "photo flights" truly feel like a dream come true. Many of the compositions and shots I take are inspired by the king of aerial landscape photography, Chris Burkard.

Sun Sand
Taken on my first "photo flight" and still one of my favorite images. I love the texture of the sands of the Great Salt Lake below and the sunlight reflecting off the surface. This being my first time taking photos of planes in-flight, I didn't think about slowing my shutter speed to blur the prop of the plane. Photography is a constant learning process, particularly when in new environments such as this.

Salty Surface
The Great Salt Lake will never cease to amaze me with it's amazing colors and textures. The salinity of the lake north of the causeway causes fantastic coloration in the water. Colors can vary from green to dark purple.
